Sandy Point and Bluff

Mark’s first weekend in New Zealand. He was never going to match my bike ride to Bluff and back, but I persuaded him to join a small group of runners I had met a few weeks back. They run at various places, and this week was Sandy point. A 7:30am meet means dawn rises during the run and a head torch is essential!

Due to the fact that I have been unwell this week, it was a case of leaving them to it while I went for a walk. I was able to watch the sunrise over the estuary, which was very cool.

He returned complaining that they ran rather fast…. to be honest I agree, and thought the same when I went out with them!! Very nice friendly people though.

We went to Bluff, since Mark hadn’t been, a must really. It was meant to rain, but in fact didn’t which was lucky. After a quick drive to the hilltop viewing point, we had a lovely lunch in the bar that overlooks the famous signpost, got the essential photos before returning home to relax before tea.

Beautiful start to our first weekend back together. 🙂
