Sorry for the lack of posts this last few weeks, it has been a crazy January at work and I have struggled to find the time!
We went to Crank up in Jan – the annual vintage machinery show in Edendale) and the weather held off – the show has expanded and is now absolutely immense! It is like a farmers playground with a DRAGSTER TRACTOR surely to be the highlight of the show!! A lot of strict rules with Southland being so dry, with a complete fire ban and hosepipe ban in place, lots of things had moved around, traction engines were not allowed to run if they were on fields because of the fire risk.
We have had such a hot and dry January it breaks weather records for the past 100 years!
I have been trying to get out on my bike more, and adjust the expectation to – moving forwards at any speed is good!
The Buskers festival also happened recently, beautiful weather for that too, we even made it to one of the shows, which happen all around the city all week, so usually we are working! These two pictured on the stage were actually from Lancashire! Small world!
Mark also took part in a team triathlon! One of my clients wanted to do a local triathlon but the 10km run was a little too long so she asked did I know any runners. Mark stepped in happily, and despite it ‘only being for fun’ was keen to know how fast his laps were and how much he was gaining on the competitors up front!
The swim was in the local pool then Justine cycled around Bluff, with Mark finishing it up with a 3 laps of the docklands road run to end the morning. For the first time, I was the spectator instead!
Rounding off this crazy few weeks was the Burt Munro Rally weekend in Invercargill this weekend. I usually don’t get to much of it but I decided to volunteer for the hill climb this year, and took the morning off to go and Marshall.
What a cracking view I had and what crazy machines those guys out there have! We had free tickets to the street races too, because Ryding2Health is on the circuit, but sadly an oil spill stopped the races after only one race (the classic bikes). Gutted was an understatement since we had our own built in on site kitchen and bathroom facilities! 😦 This was the only race that took place in the end. You can see the yellow R2H sign on the no 64 post in the video thumbnail, our studios are in that block, just out of sight off to the right!
Our client Jeremy (pictured below with the Honda, no 24) was hoping to take a win today, being the current reining Superstock national champion, placing 2nd last year but he didn’t even get to race!
