Tales of the swimming pool …

It’s been a while since I posted one of these!

[background info: I encounter all sorts of odd behaviour while minding my own business at the pool. This has only been exaggerated since I became disabled. I enjoy sharing these wee gems from time to time!]

Pretty quiet in the pool at lunchtime today. I’m swimming a steady long set minding my own business. I didn’t really pay much attention to the lady getting in the next lane and swimming freestyle, till I noticed her a bit later and wondered why I wasn’t catching her.

Just as I’m in the middle of wondering this, I notice she has stopped at one end. She waits for me to get there and then sets off at the same time as I do my turn.

Oh.. it’s a race is it? Well I have news for you.. CBA today. I carried on at the same pace. I got past her pretty quick and was already 1/3 of the way back before she even got to the other end.

She then switched to breast stroke for a few lengths, promptly got out and left.

MORAL OF THIS STORY: don’t underestimate a disabled person, and most certainly don’t judge a book by its cover. 😎😏🤷🏼‍♀️🤪😎
