Over the last month I have been a bit down and out. It has taken a while to get things straight in my head, get work under control and pain under control. For now, at least, I think I have it. For how long, who knows!

I stopped taking the narcotics around 6 weeks ago. They were making me violently sick and making it hard for me to continue to work. Then there was the fall out. The pain fall out!

Diet and meds update

It took another few weeks to get that all on balance, but I have taken a slightly unorthodox step and have gone for complimentary medicine. So I am now taking turmeric, and have a list of foods that I am avoiding, AKA the anti inflammatory diet.

So that means…

  • Image result for inflammatory food listSugar and High-Fructose Corn Syrup. Table sugar (sucrose) and high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are the two main types of added sugar in the diet. …
  • Artificial Trans Fats. …
  • Vegetable and Seed Oils. …
  • Refined Carbohydrates. …
  • Excessive Alcohol. …
  • Processed Meat.
  • chocolate
  • crisps
  • biscuits
  • aka anything man made and processed!

So far, its working!!! Who would have thought! I have been able to get back to a tiny bit of normality (although I am still not able to massage, so have had to stop doing that for now).  But, this new element of control means I have been able to do this:

Which makes me a tiny bit happier! I still see people much older than me running up forest hill, I watch my old team mates still race on team GB and do feel a tiny bit sad, but this is my lot, so I have to make the best of it. I am already plotting what surgeon defying things I might be able to do once they have made me fully bionic!

Recruitment update

This one is still a battle. I am determined to find someone who is a good fit for the business which means that I need to be selective and careful. Here in Southland you need to be more creative in the recruitment methods, simply listing a job is no good, when the provice is 2.7% unemployment which the government considers to be everyone is fully employed. This means you need to go and be a bit more proactive – so I have been all over the place taking to various government agencies, local polytechs, the works. It is LONG and time consuming, as is the interview process. I have even given conditional offers where the candidate has then not met the conditions. So, the long laborious process continues and I live in hope that I can solve it soon, before my time runs out!

I have managed to cover the massage (for now) but the hunt for a personal trainer continues.

Other news

So when you grow older the hair dye doesn’t last as long as it used to. this forces you to be more creative about your hair do, in order to try to remain young looking as long as possible..!

There might be a little bit of hope too, now that we have passed the winter equinox down under: I have been arriving and leaving work in the dark for many months, but there’s a tiny bit of light at the end of the tunnel… look!
