So this week has been slightly better, after last week’s weather malfunction! We decided to trot Ben off up in the Queenstown direction, a tourist must do. As always, I needed my ‘wow’ earplugs. It does amuse me because we were exactly the same! I don’t wow as much but I never get bored of the scenery here in NZ and love to share the beautiful land with others.
Earlier in the week, we did an underwater video session in the pool, and I analysed Ben’s swim technique. I love this GoPro, its such a multi useful tool!
I won’t subject Ben to a public post, so here’s a clip of me, luckily I managed to demonstrate what I was trying to demonstrate!
At Queenstown we accidentally stumbled upon the Rural Games. What A hoot, even if it was their first go at it! The events were a little too spaced out, but it was still good fun and we got to watch the wood chopping, with a bonus free smoothie from Fonterra! Shame the rest of the things were at other times, because there was all sorts of hillarious events going on including cherry spitting, gum boot throwing and egg throwing and catching! I have no idea how they think these things up!
From there the Gondola was a must, and today was a fabulous day for the views.
As always, it was a stunner, more Wow’s from Ben!
We also all had a go at the Luge, this time taking two turns, getting to go on both tracks! Come back to this blog later in the week because I will add Mark’s GoPro footage, as soon as I have edited it!
Ferg is a must in Queenstown, and as always didn’t disappoint, even though it is the slowest fast food joint in town!
All we had time for after all this was a whistle stop tour of Arrowtown, a cute wee town that serves nice ice cream, sadly we were too late! 😦
A stunning ride up (and down) the devils staircase made for a superb day out. I think we all enjoyed it, specially since the sun is back!
Sunday saw me racing in the Southland champs regatta. This is a bench mark regatta because it was also the first one I raced in last year when I started out in rowing. Here’s the race reports, but a win, a third and a win is the summary! Here’s me in the single! Aim: get to the end without mishap!
Let’s hope the sun keeps shining next week!
2 weeks to Wanaka! Hell have we had a ride towards that start line! We thought it was all off (again) last week when Ben tore his calf.
But all is not lost, he’s been to the physio and they advise its ok, the race is still on! Here is the super smiley face as he stepped onto the bike again post injury!
Wish us luck for a smooth ride from here to the start line!
