Unexpectedly I was forced to stop wearing my leg and full time use my wheelchair following issues with my new socket. This led to psychological problems for me identifying as a wheelchair user which I didn’t expect.

#242 new socket time: testing the check socket

It’s always a bit nerve wracking when you have had a socket for 10 months that’s fitted great and you now need another due to shrinkage. No two sockets are ever the same, it’s sometimes like being forced to throw out your favourite pair of shoes. Here’s what happened at the limb centre today

A summary of my second year as an amputee

My second year as an amputee has been tougher than my first. The honeymoon period has worn off, I’m hitting walls and barriers and a ton of ‘I will never be able to do that again’ realisations as I start to adjust my expectations from restoring a life I lost, to building a shiny new one that’s a slightly different shape.
