Poem: the demon inside my head

Terror within is quiet today
Dormant, for how long, who knows
Brewing beneath the surface to say
Don’t forget me, what I say – goes.

Sometimes the demon surprises me
Awakes without any warning
The face of smiles don’t tell the story
Inside I deal with forewarning

The energy keeping the demon at bay
Eats away at my cheerful repose
All the while the passer by forgets
Because PTSD doesn’t show.
