Sadly, while parents often report noticing differences in their children at a young age, many children are not diagnosed for years. In cases of milder symptoms, Autism Spectrum Disorder can go undiagnosed into adulthood.

It is not uncommon for people with ASD to have a totally different experience of the sensory world. Until someone actually points this out to us, how would we know that the way we experience the world isn’t the same?

Many people know that autism is a spectrum. ASD = autism spectrum disorder.

This does NOT mean that everyone is a little bit autistic. That, quite frankly, is the statement that irritates me the most.
