#235: My next big race goal: after the Waka Ama world champs 2022

If you have followed me on social media you will know I don’t give up easily. But the huge challenges I have faced (and continue to face) really have put doubt in my mind and made me question whether my personal goals really are realistic.

So I don’t speak lightly when I say this goal is HUGE.

  1. Is it possible to lower the gearing of the bike? It’s probably possible to put smaller chain wheels on the front to achieve this.

    1. Thank you for the suggestion! My problem isn’t the size of the gears, it’s the severe lack of working arteries left in the remainder of my left leg, which means my muscles in that leg get oxygen starved when I exercise and that causes me pain. There’s no medical fix for this, so I have to find alternative ways to achieve my goals.

      1. Regards the gears We can only try. By the way 20km/HR is what I typically do these days on a bike because of a cantankerous knee. Just run your own race and don’t sweat it.
